Glitter Magazine: August 2015

Interview with Madison Iseman

Glitter Magazine   |   Written by Heather Riccio

Glitter recently sat down with YouTube star, Madison Iseman, to talk about her #ThrowbackThursday covers, her style and personality, her inspiration, how she balances her school and professional life,  her new film, Laid in America,  and the one thing her fans might be shocked to know about her. She also has some amazing advice for teens today. Read on to find out about this YouTube star on the rise!

GLITTER: When did you start your YouTube channel?

MADISON: I started my channel about a year ago!

GLITTER: What can you tell us about your #ThrowbackThursday covers on YouTube?

MADISON: My #throwbackthursday covers is a series i just started with covers to my favorite songs growing up. They all come with a bunch of memories from my childhood!

GLITTER: Who inspires you?

MADISON: My biggest inspiration overall has to be my mother. She’s always pushed me to work hard and follow my dreams. She’s been the most amazing role model growing up, displaying what it’s like to be a strong independent woman. She’s the strongest/most hard-working woman I know.

GLITTER: How would you describe your style and personality?

MADISON: I’d describe my personality and style as fun but laid-back! I’d like to think i’m pretty easy going and down-to-earth, but at the same time, I know how to have fun when the time is right! My style matches in the sense that I like to keep things casual but cute!

GLITTER: How do you balance your school life with your professional life?

MADISON: Balancing school/social life with my professional life can sometimes get complicated. I really have to prioritize everyday and schedule my days in order to get everything done. But I think overall, its important for me to fit in some “fun time” in between work and school because it all can get a little overwhelming and a little break is healthy.

GLITTER: What can you tell us about Laid in America? Who do you play?

MADISON: Laid in America is a comedy where two British exchange students, Caspar Lee and KSI, go on a mission on their last night in America to get, well… laid. Hahah, so the film is definitely not for a younger audience. I play, Kaylee, the love interest of Caspar. The whole film is absolutely hilarious; we found ourselves on the floor laughing even through the 20th take of one scene. Everyone on set had such awesome chemistry, and by the end of filming we all started to feel like family. Definitely can’t wait for this one!!

GLITTER: What is one fashion trend you love this year?

MADISON: This year I absolutely fell in love with the Boho Chic style. High wasted denim shorts, fun flow tops, a pair of booties, flowers in my hair, and I’m good to go!

GLITTER: What are some things your fans would be surprised to know about you?

MADISON: Something fans would be surprised to know about me is that I am an absolute fitness junkie. I don’t advertise it a ton over social media because its been a self-discovery over the past couple months. About six months ago I realized I was living a very unhealthy lifestyle, physically and emotionally. I needed a change. Since then I’ve made a total transformation of my diet, exercise, and mental health. I’m eating a extremely healthy foods (and yes I still eat A LOT), I’m at the gym everyday, and I’m the happiest I’ve ever been!

GLITTER: What is your definition of self-love?

MADISON: I think the definition of self-love is trusting/believing in yourself fully. Its so easy to get wrapped up in social media and “who’s who” we start to forget how truly awesome we are. Just think, as a human being, we have the power to make a difference, make someone smile, forgive others, create new things, think beyond our imagination and so much world. We, ourselves, are so powerful and its so easy to lose sight of that. The second we focus on ourselves and make goals and focus on what makes us happy, we will find that the right people and circumstances will be right infant of our eyes.

GLITTER: What one piece of advice do you have for teens today?

MADISON: My one piece of advice for teens today is, as cliché as it is, “Live like you’re dying!” We have one life, and life is short, so live everyday like its you’re last and make the best of it. Life is awesome, people are awesome. We get so caught up in negativity we forget what’s right in front of us.

GLITTER: What do you have coming up in 2015 that you can tell us about?

MADISON: 2015 has been such an awesome year!! I’m really really excited for Laid in America that’s supposed to be released sometime in the fall. I was also a part of the film, Tales of Halloween, that’s set to release late October. Other than that, I’m excited to get back to work and spend some extra time with my family!

GLITTER: How can fans follow you?

MADISON: I’m always always on social media! Its my favorite way to interact with everyone.

Quoting Madison

"I’ve always just loved the horror genre and scary movies. I don’t really know why. Ever since I was a little girl, they were always my favorite movies to watch. They are also one of my favorite movies to act in. There are just really no rules."
